So, who are these people who like TrekSmut? Well... some of the regulars from TSU have now
announced themselves to the world (if you, too, hang out on ASCEM(L), feel free to write up a bio - or
update the one already on this page - and either post
it to the ng or send it to <askem_noone@hotmail.com>). We owe the friendly
atmosphere of these proclamations to Greywolf, who gave us the directions:
"Haven't ya ever stopped off at the Vortex Hole Coffee House and Blues Society yet? Shit, yer
missin' out! Friday night jam sessions, all musicians welcome, foxy singers of any gender always
appreciated - and yes, we do have 3-D chess sets, as well as 2-D chess, backgammon and the infamous
Backstage Poker Palace.
"Every kind of caffeinated beverage ya ever heard of, plus a few more for luck. Raktajino, blood wine
on tap, 31 flavours of imported brew - and, by special arrangement with the Constable - and bloody
expenisve it was, too - Romulan Ale!
"So come on by, y'all! Tell 'em Uncle Wolfie sent ya - that way I get a free doobie
;-) "

"I'm male, 27, I'm a professional musician, and have been a Star Trek fan since before dirt
(to borrow an expression of my sainted mother, who no doubt would not approve of my new creative outlet).
I live in the Washington DC area, and can smell the politics from my front porch.
"I'm a big fan of f/f as well as m/f, especially anything at all to do with everyone's favorite trill.
I've written four or five stories, starting with 'Music From Home' and its sequels, 'Out with the
Bathwater', 'Baubles, Batleths, and Beads' and 'To Sleep, Perchance to Dream' as well as a standalone
called 'Crumbling'.
"I want to take this opportunity to thank the several people who've given me feedback, especially
Sabine, who has helped me edit several of the above stories... *hugs* "
Angie
(see the author's
website)
"Well, what the 'ell, I figure I'll throw my hat in here too (takes off a grey men's walking
hat and tosses it aimlessly. It lands on someone's head. Angie apologizes profusely, clears her throat,
and...)
"Hi, all. My name is Angie, and I've been hanging out here since the inception of ASCEM(L); before
that I was a lurker on ASC. TrekSmut is my only claim to fame now - you know, the stuff I always said I
could never imagine! I am an 18 year-old Honors College elementary education major at the Indiana
University of Pennsylvania. Now there's a peculiar thing about el ed classes: they are terribly dry, as a
rule. In fact, that's where I write my best smut. <g> As long as no one checks my math
notebook! Anyway... I'm on the short side, and rather rounder than I ought to be, but I've got lots of
energy. And also lots of hair.
"My favorite series has always been TOS, and my favorite character, everyone probably knows by now, is
Dr. Leonard McCoy. So I mostly write Spock/McCoy slash - at least, thus far. I'm probably going to branch
out from that more this year, though, especially since I have recently discovered the great joys of DS9!
G/B has me thrilled.
"I've really been enjoying this group; I feel like I've made a whole slew of friends on the 'net
through ASCEM. Thanks, guys!!"

<anne straightens from her post by the jukebox and saunters toward the center of the room.
She eyes the napping Wolfboy at one of the tables and decides not to bother him... for now>
"I'm the ASCEM-L listmom, the adoptive Mom to BLTs and the Paris/Kim Slash Party Hostess. TrekSmut is
my life. <g>
"I'm closer to 50 than 40, do indeed have a facial tat and prefer black cowboy boots, ripped jeans,
T-shirt and a leather or jeans jacket to any other attire. (Is there any other attire?)
"I started out in the 70s reading K/S and still remember the very first time TOS was shown on the air.
I now write VOY slash starring P/K and trying (despite TPTB's best efforts) to set them in canon.
"'Beginnings' is the first in what promises to be an eight-part series that, when done, should become
one long novel. So far, 'Beginnings' and 'Between Love and Duty' are done. There are three not set
in canon that also belong - 'With This Ring', 'Anniversary' and 'Death Does Not Part'. I also wrote a [G]
story - 'Letter to An Absent Son' which was from Owen Paris to Tom (and has nothing to do with
Katie Fritz's excellent 'Letters from the Delta Quadrant' stories).
"I have an almost 18yo daughter who also prefers the same attire and who now reads my stuff
(embarrassing me to no end), nags me to write more and who has told all her friends about my ASCEM award
and gives them my stories to read."
Arcady, aka Liz
(see the author's

"Since we seem to be taking our 15 minutes of global fame here on ASCEM(L), and never being
backwards in coming forwards, I'll just wrest the café-bar microphone away from whoever had it last and
introduce myself...
"I'm 32, of Welsh-Scots origin, living in Brighton. No kids of my own, but I've got a stepson who's
older than I am and 2 step-grandchildren (oh, work it out; it's a long story). I work for an educational
consultancy, bringing students over from Central Asia and China to learn English here, so I usually spend
some of the year in Foreign Parts. I also teach and do a bit of work at the local women's resource
centre. My anti-career so far has included reading tarot cards on Brighton pier, but I was originally an
academic philosopher, ending up at Cambridge before moving back down to the seedier, but more
comfortable, locale of the south coast.
"What I write: G/B, of course - a slash pairing so popular they even named the country where I live
after it... but I also write non-fanfic, with short stories in Interzone, Visionary Tongue and Terra
Incognita, and a couple of completed novels. Somehow, whatever I write ends up as SF or fantasy. My
mother's a Gothic novelist, so I blame nature and nurture...
"If you want to read any of the fanfic, it's here: <http://home.fastnet.co.uk/arcady/> and drop me a
line if that doesn't work; we've had a few technical hitches recently and not all the links are
functional...
"I realised recently that I've been hanging out on ASC(EM) for a year now. I dunno. Just keep on
coming back; must be the people, or the particularly fine brand of cyber-scotch they serve in these
parts..."
Arachnethe2
"Who am I?
"My heritage is mixed, like that of Mr. Spock. I am one part Czech, one part German. I wish I could be
simply a human, but today it is still impossible in our world. So I hope I will be a European soon. I
pray (although I am an atheist) that the theater with the EU will reach a good end. A world parted in
nations is no place for people like me.
"I was born in the former Czechoslovakia and came to Germany aged 19 (it was 01/12/89). Behind me a
revolution was coming, the old system was crashing down and all the people wanted Vaclav Havel as
president. But at this moment the future was open to all possibilities, including the bad ones. So, I
chose simply to go away and not to turn back.
"Having lived in Germany for one year, I accidentally saw TOS on TV. It was during a hot summer, I was
alone at home for three weeks and every day there was a new episode on the TV: a new one in the evening
and the repeat the next morning. What a time. Woo hoo!
"I became a fan. I bought Star Trek books and read them all. And my German became even better.
"To learn German was necessary for me to survive in Germany. To learn English is very necessary to
survive today in the world. There began my long, long path from English, to the internet, to slash fan
fiction (via Babylon 5) and finally to ASCEM(L). I read Killa's 'Turning Point', and this story was my
turning point...
"I am a hopeless K/S-er, but I like also P/K slash: all of torch, amirin and Emma Woodhouse.
"Knowing that all would see my posts, no matter how much they might suck, I wrote some tiny stories at
first - 'Like Your Father', 'The Card', 'Unfair' - then a parody, 'Spock's Singled Out Show' and finally
a real story: 'Pon Farr' (I and II). Also worth mentioning: 'Dream' and small pieces of poetry I post to
ASCEM from time to time.
"Something else started on the last silvester day (1997/98): I was in the kitchen, preparing some
stuff for the party, thinking about Greywolf and how nice it was of him to edit my story... and then my
first poem was there! I typed it into my computer and sent it to Greywolf. It was a wicked one and he
liked it very much.
"And so I'm writing. The stories are all there in my head, finished, forming a long
queue."
BGM
(see Evacuee
Sanctum)
< BGM enters the bar, wearing, as usual, not very much. She looks pleasantly stoned, and
is at the arm of a tall, fairly well-built man with dark hair and a black goatee. She's in the process of
showing her appreciation of this man when someone nudges her. >
BGM: What the bloody hell do you want?
Extra: They want you to do an intro.
BGM: A what? Get the hell out of my sight, I'm busy.
Extra: <pleading, helpless> But, don't you want people to know who you are?
BGM: All they need to know is that I'm high, and very busy at the moment. And I just
noticed that the occupants of that booth in the dark corner have just vacated, so if you'll excuse me...
<she tries to push the man away when he persists that she should say something> Oh very well.
<fuming, she grabs the mike and starts a brief narrative> My name's Sophie, otherwise known as BGM,
I write Garak/Bashir fic... <nervous glance to her SO, she adds> Don't concern yourself with that,
honey, just act pretty, okay? <satisfied, even though her partner isn't, she continues> In short,
I'm weird and I love sex. In writing, in practice, any way you see it. I'm a perv, and proud of it
dammit. I'm also a Canadian, and atheist <this draws a funny look from her partner, which she again
dismisses as she whispers with irritation> Why don't you go over to that dark booth and drop your
pants? <when he leaves, she shoves the mike to the man> Anything else?
Man: Umm... thank you?
BGM: Yeah, okay, cute. Bartender! Send over two tequila sunrises, if you please. And lots
of straws. And see if someone can find me a staple gun. <as she walks toward the booth, we get a brief
look at her companion's face, which seems inordinately worried>
Charlene
Vickers
(see Charlene's (not so)
Dirty Little Secret)
"My name's Charlene, and I live in Yellowknife, IMO one of the most accepting places I've
ever found. You can be who you are, not what society expects you to be. Which is great, because there's
no pressure either to conform or to rebel. Whatever you are, that's okay, which is why I love living
here, even in February (brrr).
"I grew up with Star Trek but have only recently been involved in writing fan fiction, although I've
written non-fanfic fiction for my own pleasure and for friends for years. I got turned on to fanfic and
TrekSmut when a disability threw me out of work a while ago. The written medium of the Internet is easier
for me to comprehend with my cognitive disability than the visual/aural media of music, radio and
television. (Strange how the brain works, eh? I can write reasonably well but can barely get out a
comprehensible sentence of spoken English.)
"One thing I noticed about Trek even before I became disabled was how the Trek universe trivialises
disability. Geordi LaForge was blind, yes; but his disability was often turned into a super-ability with
the VISOR, and it didn't stop him from becoming Chief Engineer. But what happens in the Trek universe to
people who can't be fixed or whose disabilities don't allow them to lead productive lives?
"I wrote my first fanfic story to help with the intense frustrations being disabled can cause. Since I
didn't want to disable any canonical characters, I created a disabled original character who can't be
fixed and who can't stand being turned - as she says :) - into "either a medical experiment or a
constant failure" when she doesn't get better just because everyone wants her to. Most of my Trekfic is
in her A/U, plus I've written a few other short things - challenge replies and suchlike.
"I haven't e-published any TrekSmut yet. I'm in the midst of writing a story about Tom Paris that
includes alien sex and a story about my original character that includes a detailed Neelix/Kes scene.
"My Trekfic page is located at <http://users.internorth.com/~cvickers/Trek.htm>."
Debra Fran Baker
(see the author's
website)
"Who am I? Many people, like all of us. I was born in 1963, and I actually have fuzzy
memories of TOS, which makes sense since my father is a science fiction reader. So I've been a fan since
the beginning - not just Star Trek, but of science fiction in general.
"I'm married to a wonderful, patient husband who refuses to read anything I write unless I tell him
it's safe, and who believes I should write stuff that can actually be published. No children,
unfortunately. We met at an SF con and our house and social lives are filled with books and fandom. One
of the people I am is an indifferent housewife and pretty good cook. Another runs con (hospitality)
suites at conventions. A third is a serious student of religious law, with no object but greater
understanding. A fourth is a feminist who enjoys the traditional female roles but believes it should be a
choice.
"The one who's writing this writes fan fiction, mostly Star Trek: Voyager (although I'm branching out
into X-Files lately) and mostly slash - and there it's mostly C/P, although I do have one P/K to my
credit. I find that while I enjoy reading and writing m/m, I can't bring myself to write f/f or f/m
erotica - I'm not sure how I got a second place nod in the HetSmut category <grin> - but that
doesn't mean I won't write f/m stories, just that they'll be rated [G].
"I've been writing fanfic for just over a year now, if you don't count the stuff I scribbled out as a
teenager. My first story was 'Fire and Rain', and you all know what I did in that one. I have about a
dozen stories now, mostly on the short side. They're on my website and a few other places. I'm proudest
of 'Palan is Different' because Palan is my first original character."
Dina Lerret
//ZZZ...X// <receives a thump on the skull from a napping wolfguy> "Ow, I'm
awake." //Dammit, out of all the dark corners I happen to doze off in, I get one with a wolf in it.
Hmmm. What's this?// <sees some people talking about their lives, notices a break and decides to
give a go at it as she makes her way towards the center of the room>
"Hi, I'm Redina Lerret or just Dina. I won't go on about my age, job, and sexual preferences. You'll
just have to figure those out. <g>
"I was immediately attracted to a show called Star Trek (more specifically, the original series) over
a decade ago, which was being aired in syndication. As other incarnations of Trek came out, one became my
preferred series - Deep Space Nine.
"I really didn't need a home computer but I was curious as to what the internet was like. In December
1995, I purchased a computer and, a month later, went online in 1996. But my first fandom wasn't Star
Trek. It was Anne Rice's 'Vampire Chronicles'. When I found out an author, torch - who wrote VC
speculative fiction (aka 'specs') on alt.books.anne-rice - also wrote Star Trek fan fiction, again,
curiosity made me take another step towards something different.
"My first Star Trek fiction (no Trek books, yet), nearing the end of 1996, was torch's Paris/Kim
slash. I don't remember the title, though. I do remember, oddly enough, my second piece of Star Trek
fiction was Picard/Q. The name of this story slips my memory but it did involve Ricean vampires. Then, at
the end of 1996, I met my sister in slashdom (five different series).
"It was in January 1997 when the switch over to alt.startrek.creative occurred. Mary E's series of G/B
stories had caught my attention. For some reason, her stories reminded me of the Nine Inch Nails lyrics I
heard on the radio in 1996. I became fascinated by G/B, subscribed to ASC(E), and became a regular
visitor to ASC's archive. Around this time, I left ABAR. Sometime during the spring of 1997, another
couple began to fascinate me, Chakotay/Paris. I missed numerous Voyager episodes but I had watched
'Caretaker'.
"After a while of lurking on the group, I started contacting authors to thank them for releasing their
stories. I met some very interesting people in 1997, a few I would consider good friends. Generally, I
prefer slash stories but I did enjoy reading a Jadzia/Julian vignette and some Janeway/Paris stories. In
the same year I released a G/B story to ASCEM.
"It was my first story ever released to the Star Trek creative groups, a PWP which still causes me to
blush. Towards the end of 1997, I went on to release a C/P vignette and a rather bizarre beginning for a
Bashir/Kim, Sisko/Bashir and Tuvok/Bashir A/U story. By now, my interest in G/B was waning. I still enjoy
the pairing, to a degree, but I found myself attracted to C/P and the more unusual slash pairings.
Cameron B's Odo/Bashir and O'Brien/Bashir stories could also be credited for the change. :D
"This brings up the beginning of 1998. Personal issues/problems in January managed to consume my time.
Only a few good things came out of that month, one being my joining the ASC archiving team. As for the
rest, it's occurring now.
"I can type what I would like to try and do in 1998, though. I'd like to keep up with the archive and
still be able to write; find a patient beta-reader-bordering-on-English-teacher who doesn't mind the type
of slash I write and has the time; try to get on the CPSG list (but that has as much probability of
happening as me finding that English teacher - very slim chance <g> ); overall, work
towards helping this group live long and prosper."
<returns to the back of the room>
Emily
Salzfass
(see the Star
Trek Fanfic Authors' Exchange)
"I, Emily, being of frequently sound mind, dig canon. I fell into Trekdom halfway through
TNG's lifespan, thinking nothing could be as cool as TNG - until DS9 came along. Now I have given up on
TNG entirely, and am a ferocious (occasionally rabid) DS9 admirer who dabbles in VOY when it's
Janeway-centric.
"I have written several J/7 pieces, most notably 'A Woman Alone' (which is crying for a rewrite) and
'Little Red Corvette' (which is probably a parody, but the oddly not-terrifically-funny kind), but my
most intense VOY endeavor has been a growing collection of moments from the unseen Days of Hell (out of
265 the eps only showed about eight - someone needs to fill in the blanks!) tentatively entitled
"The Year of Hell Logs". I love Janeway, I think she's an extremely complex and powerful character whose
potential is only barely tapped on the series, but it's there. I have not really acclimatized to the
series or the rest of the crew (though I do love Seven), but Janeway is worth all sorts of exploring. And
then there's DS9. IMO my most interesting pursuits in my mind have been DS9 pieces that explore Kira; I
wrote one O/K piece that attempted to illuminate the 'closet conversation' during Dax's wedding (mostly
because I couldn't believe no one had written that story yet!) - it's called 'On Blurred Lines'. See,
Kira is (again, of course, IMO) the most difficult character to write because, while her motivation is
made clear through the combined efforts of Ms. Visitor and TPTB, her decisions vascillate; she is
unpredictable. That's why I write Kira-history; I'm attempting to figure her out, understand her from
birth upwards, hoping it will shed light on Kira-the-character-today.
"So, my magnum opus, the unfinished demon that keeps demanding my creative energies, is my huge
DS9/Bajoran history/Kira-in-the-resistance work: 'The Music Makers'. It came about from an idea I had
when writing my SNW entry, 'Requiem for Gallitep', which had some intense flashbacks to Kira in the
resistance, and I figured that story needed writing. So I'm 32 pages into TMM and counting, and I'm
having a wonderful time.
"As I said, I dig canon. I don't know why. I like to write pieces about couples that make sense to me
(so far that is only and exclusively the J/7 pairing... I don't even buy O/K. Ask me why if you really
want to know) and I like to keep characters and events true to their canonical background.
"I think it all comes down to the fact that I'm a student, studying media and cultural theory at
Swarthmore College. I'm working on a paper on fandom, and in doing so I've become my own best case study.
This requires more thought; fortunately, I have a year and a quarter in which to complete it.
"My VOY work includes:
- 'A Woman Alone' (7, implied J) [R]
- 'Little Red Corvette' (J/7) [R]
- Untitled piece that is a continuation of the 'Hunters' ep (J/7, probably J/T) [NC-17]
- 'The Year of Hell Logs' (J, T, crew) [R]
"And DS9:
- 'Age of Communication' (B/m) [NC-17]
- 'On Blurred Lines' (O/K) [NC-17]
- 'Requiem for Gallitep' (K, D) [R]
- 'The Music Makers' (K) [R]
"All of this, as well as work by other folks, can be found on my website, at <http://members.bellatlantic.net/~sabine/trek/stfax.html>,
which I lovingly call the 'Star Trek Fanfic Authors' Exchange'."
Glo. Phillips
(see the author's
website)
"My name is Glo. Phillips, aka Corporal Glo. of the MFWC... I am also known to my 'friends'
as Cpl. Cleavage, due to an ill-chosen outfit I wore at my very first convention while givng an award to
an actor.
"I've been a lurker here on ASCEM-L for some time now, only very rarely stepping out to post. This is
due less to a fear than to a severe lack of time and energy. ;-D
"I'm a pro writer of gaming materials, and a writer of Highlander fanfic, and avidly read both gen and
slash/smut fanfic in a host of other fandoms, including Trek, but also Sentinel, Buffy, Forever Knight
and Babylon 5.
"My webpage (which mostly focuses on my HL connections) can be found at <http://home.earthlink.net/~cpl_glo/>."
Greywolf the
Wanderer
<the Wolf snorts, and wakes up; noticing what's going on, he finishes his doob, tucks the
roach in his pocket, empties his glass and stands>
"Och, I might's well throw me hat in the ring, eh? <he bows>
"Well, let's see. I'm a hairy mongrel celtic furvert who lives in the mountains in northern
California. My mate is another hairy celtic furvert; I'm one of the lucky ones, I found my t'hy'la and he
feels the same way. I was born in Scotland, raised in Canada and southern California. I have the honour
to be a subject of Her Majesty the Queen.
"I had my first 39th birthday in 1997 - if it was good enough for the immortal Jack Benny, 'tis good
enough for me.
"I'm a Trekkie, from back before the word "Trekker" was ever even thought of. I first saw TOS in its
maiden run on Canadian TV, starting the summer of '68. So I go back a ways. I'm a K/S fan, primarily,
though I like just about any TOS if it's done right (Skazki comes to mind...). I was a K/S fan as a 10
year-old cub. I had no idea what two guys might do in bed together; hadn't really figured human
plumbing out yet - but I knew damn well those two belonged together. Spent the next 25 years or so
thinking I was the only one. Three years ago I finally got usenet access; I'd been a BBS'er for years,
including a couple of stints as a sysop. And what do I find, in the ASC ng? Why, 'Turning Point', by the
wonderful Killa, who is now my partner in crime - and who owes me mail again, dogbammit! ;-) . Man,
that thing blew every fuse in my brain! Got me all hot an' bothered, it did. So I wrote to her.
And then I thought of a story called 'Blues for Allah', and posted it. And got a shitload of comments.
And, like Ny said - the rest is in DejaNews...
"Got to tell y'all - I am damn glad to be here, and damn glad I ain't the only one, and VERY damn glad
there's so much yummy TrekSmut out there for me to read. Oh, yeah - besides K/S I also like S/Mc, G/B,
anything by Cam Burnell or Ny Martin, C/P, P/K and P/Q. Oh, and Jungle Kitty's Brandt stories. Damifino
what the likes of me is doing reading hetsmut - but then, I always was a hairy pervert, ye know?
"Greywolf's backlist:
- 'Blues for Allah' (TOS: S/U, h/c - shuttle crash story)
- 'Saint of Circumstance' (TOS: h/c - backstory to pro novel 'Ishmael')
- 'The Music Never Stopped' (TOS - holiday challenge, to be reposted soon)
- 'Deep Elem Blues' (TOS: K/S, h/c, A/U - K & S are captured by Orions, 12 years ago; they finally find
each other and manage to escape, but their troubles aren't over yet...)
- 'New Minglewood Blues' (TOS: K/S, h/c, A/U - the sequel to DEB, this takes place about two months
after those events in DEB)
- 'Better Than Coffee' (TOS: K/S, PWP - my first online Naughty Bit!)
- 'Crazy Fingers' (TOS: K/S, PWP - K & S at the Elysian Baths on Risa)
- 'Good Lovin'' (TOS: K/S, PWP - turbolift sex ;-) )
- 'Fire on the Mountain' (TOS: K/S - a fortuitous accident on a camping trip leads to Our Heroes
discovering how they really feel...)
- 'To Lay Me Down' (TOS: K/S, h/c - bummer story, based on a dream I had as a cub, and answer to
Alara's bummer challenge...)
- 'Revenge' (TOS/RL: K/S, GW - revenge challenge; The Boys pay a visit to a certain Wolf, to express
their opinions of his writings...)
- 'Dire Wolf' (TOS/RL: K/S/GW, Killa - another revenge challenge; The Boys and the Wolf go visit Killa,
to show her the error of her ways, and generally make her all hot an' bothered for a while...)
- 'China Cat Sunflower' (TOS: K, S, Mc, h/c - backstory to the episode 'Operation: Annihilate!'
- 'One More Saturday Night' (TOS: ensemble, parody - a campy story of cross-dressing, lovers' revenge,
just desserts - and a certain Miss Tora-chan...)
"Da-da-dat's all, folks! Though there's about half a dozen more in various stages of construction.
Fear not; I can no more quit writing than a junkie can climb off his needle, and for much the same
reasons.
"Greywolf the Wanderer, lighting up another doob and hassling the barbot for more virtual
single-malt..."
Hamilton
"Okay, here's my brief bio. My name is Hamilton, K.A. Hamilton. For those of you who read the
Aussie Fan Club Mag, you'll have probably seen my letter in there.
"I'm 20, going on 21, and I live in a small country town in WA called Collie. I work part-time as a
teacher's aide at a local primary school and I do volunteer work at the same school.
"I love sci-fi and have been totally addicted to Star Trek since I saw 'Star Trek IV: The
Voyage Home' when I was 10. I also like 'Doctor Who' (and am writing my first slash story for that show)
and 'Blakes 7'.
"I read a great deal and write as often as I can. I am a member of LIONS. I'm picky over details and
my sense of humour is geared more toward British comedy than American. I love cats and my favourite food
is definitely pasta.
"If you really want to know more about me, email me and ask."
Jane St
Clair
"I'm Jane, I'm from Saskatoon (somewhere in Canada) and in the eight months I've spent on
ASCEM, only Charlene has recognized my pseudonym as a line from a Barenaked Ladies song. (Maybe you have
to be Canadian to notice.) I'm a twenty year-old Honours English student, likely to be an academic for
the rest of my life. I have brown hair and hazel eyes and a soft French-Canadian face that hides a mind
that men fear.
"I'm a heterosexual chick who fell in love with another woman. I'm the child of a hard-core feminist
and a landscape artist. I'm also a semi-professional (read: "poorly paid") writer and journalist. I've
been a cowgirl, a hippie, a bookworm, a geek and a member of the intellectual elite who know where
independently-released CDs come from, not necessarily in that order. I learned to speak French even
before I learned about Star Trek.
"When I was a very little girl, my Dad introduced me to Trek with 'The Search for Spock', that
slashiest of the TOS movies. In late 1997, I started reading slash and writing gen, and shameful
one-story stands with a great many characters. However, I'm basically a suck for TOS and Voyager, so my
current playmates are Kirk/Spock and Janeway/Seven. I was briefly sidetracked into X-Files fic (where I
successfully bonded Scully and Krycek, a feat for which I really think there should be some kind of
award), but I'm not paranoid enough to live there.
"My works of TrekSmut as of September 1st, 1998:
- Softly (VOY: J/P)
- 'Comme si de rien n'était' (TNG/VOY: Picard/Paris)
- Softer Than the Rain (VOY: J/P)
- On the Edge of the Mountain (TOS: K/S)
- Iowa (TOS: K/S - currently in a zine)
- ...Is a Boy Forever (VOY: P/f - not a Mary Sue, I swear)
- Sleepers (With Feet) (VOY: P/T - written for Katie Redshoes; I'm not responsbile :-P )
- Snow - A Voyager Lullaby (VOY: J, 7)
- A Kiss on the Body Electric (VOY: J/7)
plus two Voyager-based "Small Screen" episodes, a J/P/7 and a D/T
"My brain works overtime, toying with pairings I'll never get around to writing, and am I the only one
who thinks that the DS9 ep 'Far Beyond the Stars' would have been a million times better if William S.
Burroughs and David Cronenberg had had a hand in it? (I can see it now - 'Far Beyond the Interzone',
where Brother Benny eats of the black meat and gets it on with Jules and Kit, possibly at the same time.
My mind is in the gutter, but I like the view from here.)
"At TSU I'm the third floor student lounge lizard. Greywolf is my muse. The guy I'm not seeing (don't
ask) is addicted to anime and the woman I adore hasn't looked up from her computer in three and a half
years. But my cat loves me."
J. Juls
"What the hey? If anybody cares:
"I'm a deceptively normal-looking 35 year-old woman. I live in Illinois and have a boring job, a very
understanding husband and 3 rowdy kids. But why does a person like me like Star Trek? I went to see
'Wrath of Khan' when it was first released because I'd heard it was like 'A Tale Of Two Cities', my
favorite book. Ever since then I've been a Trekkie. When TNG started, I wasn't sure I would like it - but
I thought that guy Data was kinda interesting. However, it wasn't until I saw him on Good Morning America
that I noticed how truly foxy he was!
"That was that until one day when I was looking through newsgroups and saw alt.startrek.creative and
alt.startrek.creative.erotica. Let's just say I couldn't believe my eyes! I read a few stories and got
interested... then I saw 'Obscured'.
"Obscured, Obscured - I read it over and over. I still read it often! I suddenly thought -
'Why, Data could have sex with anybody! With everybody! He doesn't have to wait for that bitch Tasha to
wake up and smell the coffee!' That's when I got completely hooked. And later I thought, 'Why not Brakish
Okun, Gil Godwyn and all those other hunky characters too?' Yee-ha!"
Joanne
Collins
(see Joanne's
Fiction Page)
"Well, who am I?
"That's a difficult question to answer, really.
"There are two versions of me, you see.
"The first is a quiet library assistant, who is a tad Trek-obsessed (and SF/fantasy in general).
"The second is a writer of TrekSmut. Slash, usually, but not exclusively.
"My favourite character to write is Tom Paris, and I like P/K and C/P equally, although I've been
writing C/P more lately because of CPSG list influence, but I'm getting back to P/K due to the PKSP list.
Very little of my fanfic will not include one (or all) of these three characters in a leading role.
"I also write crossovers, again mostly slash, both within the Trek universe, and with other shows
(most notably Highlander and The Sentinel, two of my other fandoms).
"Oh, and I'm inspired by music. Any and all, but mostly love songs (Celine Dion, Elton John and
Michael Bolton) and country music (Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire, Shania Twain).
"Works of note, especially the P/K 'American Pie' series:
- 'How Am I Supposed To Live Without You' (placed second in the 1997 Golden Orgasms for best P/K
story)
- 'American Pie' (honourable mention in the '97 Golden O's)
- 'The One'
- 'If Tomorrow Never Comes' (honourable mention for best J/C in the '97 Golden O's)
- 'True Love Call'
- 'It's Your Love'
- 'Debt Repaid' (Sentinel crossover - C/B, J/B, C/P)
- 'The Song Remembers When' (Highlander - crossover C/R)
- 'That Wasn't Me' (C/P)
- 'Lean On Me' (C/P)
- 'Shameless' (crossover with TNG: First Contact, P/Hawk)
There are several others on my web page, <http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Metro/4859/joanne.html>,
but these are the stories I'm proudest of."
Jungle Kitty
(see Jungle Kitty's
Lair)
"So here's the story of me and Star Trek. Let's start with real life. I grew up in the midwest
and my background is embarrassingly whitebread. I lived in NYC for eleven years, pursuing acting/singing
and having no success. I have lived in the San Francisco Bay area for nine years. My husband and I have
our own business in desktop publishing training and consulting. I continue to perform as an actress and
singer on a part-time, just-for-fun basis. So now with fanfic, I have a third career - and one that pays
even less than acting! I guess for my next venture, I'll have to find something where I pay people to let
me do it.
"I blush to report that I only saw one episode of Star Trek when it was on in prime time. I don't know
which one it was but I remember liking it. Don't know why I never saw any others. I started getting into
it in syndication when I was at college. It came on at 6 pm and the dining hall closed at 7 pm so I
missed the last fifteen minutes of every episode. It was years before I knew how things came out. That's
probably what got me started making up my own stuff. It really fired my fantasies right from the start.
"So why do I write TrekSmut? One word - 'Surrender' (how many of us are in this because of something
written by Killa?). It's hard to describe the effect that story had on me. It is absolutely everything I
ever wanted in K/S and still remains my all-time favorite. I don't know how many times I've re-read it
and I was awake for god-knows-how many nights thinking about it.
"It inspired me to write down the stuff I'd had imagining for 25 years. Well, that and a good friend
who, upon hearing that I couldn't sleep because of the stories in my head, said very sternly, 'Girl, get
up and write them down. You are insulting your muse!'
"My first story was a K/S called 'The Wedding Gift'. I didn't know where it came from and it was a
couple of weeks before I realized that it was about my best friend who had died earlier in the year. So
writing has been a cathartic experience for me from the start.
"'The Wedding Gift' also introduced me to the wonderful world of feedback. My first was from a certain
well-known furry TrekSmuteer and, since I'm now completely addicted to it, I have to say, 'Greywolf,
you're a pusher!' Really, it's pathetic how I haunt my email and would sell my own children (if I had any)
for a long serious e-chat about TrekSmut.
"Here's my backlist, all of which (except for 'Fancy's Hot Fire') can be found on my webpage:
K/S stories:
- The Wedding Gift
- The Edge
- Motives
- Spare the Rod
- The Life That Lies Before (my best work, IMHO)
- Once and Future
- Fancy's Hot Fire
Miscellaneous:
- Having Written
- Vulcan Poetry
Kirk/Brandt stories:
- Just Friends
- One Night on Earth
- The 1000th Woman
- Star-Spangled Night
- Hand to Hand
- The Kirk/Brandt Blooper Reel
- The Gift-Wrapped Captain
- Holiday Punch
- Two Spoons and a Butterfly
- Hearts Untraveled
- Ladies Night
- The Perfect Mentor
- Blood Claim
"I know they tell writers to write what you know. I say - to hell with that! Write what you can make
up.
"Thanks to all the feedback-givers and especially the ones who say, 'I usually hate Kirk but...'
<grin> Oh yeah, and the people who are as obsessed with Captain Brandt as I am.
"Recent News in the World of Jungle Kitty: In my acting 'career' (and I use the term loosely), I
recently was awarded 'Most Scandalous Day Job' for my TrekSmut, beating out a woman who does phone sex!
(The presenter told me that in order to accept it, I had to read a section of 'The 1000th Woman' out
loud. Into a microphone. To a room full of my peers. Luckily, we were all drunk.)
"Glad to meet you. Thanks for coming. Or however you reacted."

"I'm a twenty year-old technical writer out of Pittsburgh, PA. I write TOS slash and Vulcan
fiction, but I'm also fond of P/Q and, just recently, G/B and Tu/P.
"Listen to Loveline on WRCT 88.3 Pgh on the web
- fun and smut every Tuesday at 11pm EST. Also, the host is desperate for callers, and it's a great show.
"I also like soccer, Ben & Jerry's and my boyfriend. I'm bi but in a committed monogamous
relationship, so slash is something of an outlet for me.
"Most of my slash is set in the OSO - Overloaded Spock Operator - universe, but I try very hard not to
contradict anything canon. It's a mental exercise of sorts. My homepage contains some of my writing, an
extensive quotesfile, and other fun stuff."
Nyani-Iisha
Martin
"Anyway. I'm Ny Martin. I'm a little plump black girl of 22 from Jamaica, via New York City,
who now resides in Boston, because I went to Harvard. I graduated with a degree in biology, I'll
eventually go into medicine and right now I'm doing my post-graduate 'learn how to take care of yourself'
year. And I like to dress in long skirts and deeply v-necked blouses, much to the consternation of my
mother. :)
"I've always loved to read and to write; I read science fiction over my father's objections, and I
wrote fanfic before I knew what it was. My first piece of 'published' fanfic, 'Risala of Risa', had a G/B
slant, but it was Voyager's crew who really grabbed me, especially Tom, B'Elanna and Harry. And the rest,
as they say, is in DejaNews. *grin*

R.J. Faas
""Hi, I'm R.J. and I've been around ASCEM(L) - and ASCE before it - for going on three years
as a lurker, writer and poster (though the past several months have been too busy for me to do much more
than lurk, sadly). For the boring resumé-type stuff: I work as a computer consultant and columnist (hence
my self-appointment as head of TSU's computer department... thanks Jen for giving us TSU) with some
extraneous journalist work on the side. I have had writing published (fiction/poetry, I mean here, since
obviously as a columnist/journalist I regularly publish non-fiction), but fanfic is more fun because you
don't have to worry about trying to publish it, just sit back and have some fun... plus you can get into
more smutty details.
"I'm gay, single and in my mid-twenties, living in a rather boring place in upstate NY. I like writing
m/m slash for obvious reasons (i.e., it can be a great turn-on) and I like writing het and f/f stories
because they're a nice challenge. I consider ASCEM(L) to be like the coffee shop in a great bookstore,
full of interesting characters, conversation and wonderful writing... to which I hope I've contributed to
nicely over the years."
Rebekah
"Hi all, my name is Rebekah, or Reb as my net friends call me. I am a big fan of Star Trek -
I have been one ever since my mom dragged me to see 'The Wrath Of Khan'. And now I know she kinda regrets
dragging me to see it <g> , because I am a bigger fan of Star Trek than she is! When I first
discovered fanfic for Star Trek, I was amazed at all of the things being written! Not to mention all of
the wonderful and talented authors out there, there are so many! I love this place, ASCEM-L, and hope to
stay for a long time <g>. If you want to know more about me, write me... I am just sending out my
admiration to all of these wonderful writers.
"I discovered TrekSmut one day when I was really bored and decided to explore the internet, and whoa,
there it was, all the Trek stories and TrekSmut I could ever want! ;) "
Reverend Jim
(see the author's
website)
::clears throat, steps up to the microphone::
"Hello... my name is Jim... and I'm addicted to TrekSmut! I guess that means I'm in the right place,
huh? <wink> I'm 27; I'll be 28 in April, a fact which seems to amuse my sister to no end. I
pretty much keep to myself and am incredibly uncomfortable around people I don't know... in fact, I ain't
that much better around people I do know! The end result is people think I'm either standoffish... or
clueless. Feel free to take your pick. :-) Personally, I'm putting all my chips on clueless. I
spend most of my time at the computer, either online or writing, though my sister tells me we live in
Wisconsin. Now... I've looked out the window on occasion, but honestly I can't tell a bloody thing. I'll
just take her word for it. :P
"A little over a year ago, I didn't even know what slash was. I was just a timid little Star Trek fan
thinking how wickedly fun it would be if Major Kira and Ro Laren wound up in bed together sometime. It
was certainly a relief to know I wasn't the only degenerate on the block. <g> The first slash
story I ever read was a Kira/Dax story written by a (now) friend of mine. From that moment, I was hooked.
I tried several combinations early on, f/f and m/m, and I enjoyed them all... but once I wrote my first
J/T story that was it. I'm actually a die-hard TNG fan, and even though I've been a very vocal critic of
Voyager the show still managed to produce my two favorite Star Trek characters (Seven Of Nine and Ro
Laren being my other faves). I could write about Kathryn Janeway and B'Elanna Torres forever. I
absolutely adore them... separately and as a couple. There is just something about them that keeps
me coming back again... and again... and again. :-)
"I do have aspirations of being a professional writer, when I can pull myself away from Kathryn and
B'Elanna's sex life. That doesn't happen very often. I've pitched to Voyager once already, and had a
couple of stories taken to the rest of the writing staff for consideration. Although I didn't break
through with a sale, I was invited to pitch again. Naturally, any stories that don't make TPTB all tingly
are inevitably destined to be slashed. That really says it all right there, doesn't it?"

Robin Lawrie
(see Robin's Rude Trek
Stories)
< Enter David Attenborough (naturalist and narrator), creeping up to red brick house,
past the curly letterbox, clutching a microphone, closely followed by film crew... >
DA: <in hushed tones> "Here, safely ensconsed in her sunny suburban home, we find that
all-too-elusive creature whose undistinguished plumage makes her blend in so well with her native
environment, and yet... it is this very 'camoflage' that masks a hidden, and often dangerous side."
< He opens the weathered front door, dodging the rusted and still dripping gutters. The party
of explorers continue down the stained hall carpet, dodging stray Lego bits and towering piles of science
fiction books, to reach the sun room where a small figure taps urgently at a keyboard. >
DA: "Surrounded by the nest of un-ironed clothes and newspapers ready for recycling, the 'TrekSmut
Writer'™ is busy at her mid-morning ritual of 'logging on' and 'checking her email'. To distract
her right now would be very dangerous. Even the three young offspring, much loved as they are, know the
terrible wrath of the 'TrekSmut Writer' when made to provide drinks and biccies while still being 'on
line', crying out, 'In a minute...'. Note the summer plumage of bike shorts and t-shirt, the bare feet.
In winter, we'd see jeans, jumpers and rugby jerseys, and Nike high tops of great age and sentimental
value. But look! She stirs!"
Robin: "What the fuck are you doing in my house?!"
< The film crew back away, leaving the narrator on his own. They've seen cornered animals
defending territory before... >
DA: "I... er, I'm with the BBC. It's a documentary <he smiles whitely> . My that's a lovely
t-shirt."
Robin: "Piss off. I'm in the middle of a Mary Sue for one of the PKSP. Then I've got two Q stories and
one about Riker getting a vagina that's still unfinished. But they'll have to wait until I finally get to
watch 'Scorpion' and 'The Gift' tonight on video (yay!). So go bother someone else . I have a friend who writes X-Files slash...
< The front door bangs shut as the film crew flee for the relative safety of the studio,
closely followed by a pleading narrator waving a scrap of paper with a scrawled address. >
Robin: <grins, and returns to her 'puter> "Now, let's see..."
Ruth Gifford
(see Giffstein
Productions)
::Ruth picks herself up out of the pile of pillows in front of the fireplace and wanders over
to the mike::
"Hi everyone, I'm Ruth Gifford. I was born in 1963 (you do the math). Although I've lived all over the
place (Northern California, Iran, Belgium, and Germany), I now reside in Southern California with my wife
atara, who I met through the net. We have two kids and three cats. I'm a member of a pretty slashy
family: atara writes it (P/Q and more recently, Xena/Gabrielle - shameless plug for her stories here) as
does my sister, Debra Tabor (who writes Sentinel and some Trek).
"I've been involved in online Trek fan fiction since February of 1995 (ack! That's three years as I
write this). In September of 1997 I came up with a case of insufficient reluctance and took over the
position of FAQ Maintainer for ASCE, the predecessor of ASCEM(L). When ASCE got buried underneath mounds
of spam, I asked around for someone to get us newsgrouped as a moderated newsgroup, and ASCEM(L) was
created. In addition to maintaining the ASCEM(L) FAQs, I am also one of the newsgroup's co-moderators.
All of this means a lot to me, but one of my contributions to Trek fandom that I'm very proud of is the
fact that, in March of '95, I invented the word TrekSmut.
"When I write fan fiction I usually write about Jean-Luc Picard, although I've written in all four
Trek series. I write both het and slash and a lot of my stuff involves bdsm. I have a pretty long
backlist, but the stories I'm most proud of are 'His Beloved Pet', a P/Q story I wrote with atara, 'My
Fair Jeanne', a P/Q genderfuck story, 'Forfeit', a Picard/Janeway story, and my Picard/Sara McNeil
series. You can find all these and more (including atara's stories) at Giffstein Productions. So that's me, who's
next?"
::Ruth wanders back toward the bar and yells, 'Hey Greywolf, don't bogart that joint!'::
Selek,
aka Pat Whittaker
"I understand you don't have to be an author to include your bio. Sooo, here goes: I started
watching Star Trek when it first came on. I'm a 42 year-old male (now, my mum can stop crying) living in
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. We're probably the only place in North America that is actually enjoying El
Niño. Instead of winters of -30C, it's around the 0 mark (+32F for our south-of-the-border friends). I
work in the Medical Records department of a large hospital, inspecting the charts for completeness etc. I
also do all the departmental statistics as well as for the region.
"When I watched Star Trek, I felt I could really relate to Spock. He was different and struggling with
his identity and so was I. Anyway, I could relate to Spock and tried to emulate him. In fact, I tried to
become him - but, of course, I couldn't. I must have driven my mum crazy.
"I can't write my way out of a wet paper bag, but I sure enjoy the stories (especially TOS K/S) and
I'm honoured that you allow me to share your gift of writing.
"Mene sakkhet ur-seveh!"
TJ
"Well, I've been lurking here reading all your 'Who's Who' entries and thought I might as
well introduce myself. I'm the idiot that can't seem to post things in their entirety. I'm 40-something
and live in very rural centeral western PA, gay and now alone. My bondmate died a couple years back, from
a brain tumor, and I find this a good release since I'm not ready to go looking again. I still really
miss him.
"I can't always get to read the groups, and do miss a lot of stuff that goes on, but I've got a few
friends (thanks Wolf and T) that help keep me supplied with my fixes of TrekSmut. Yes, fixes. I'm
addicted. Have been since, uh, oh God, was it before or after you made kiwis? Oh well, no matter.
"I lived 20 miles south of NASA when the great space race was at its height and was sitting in front
of the TV at 8.30 pm with the brand-new color Zenith tuned into NBC on September 8th, 1966. It was 'Man
Trap' (the salt monster one). DeKelley was the only person I recognized right away (used to watch a lot
of westerns) but, when I saw him in that blue uniform, it was love. Sent him some pretty interesting fan
mail. Got a nice signed pic of him in return. ;-) Then I noticed the guy with the pointed ears and
I wanted to lick them so bad... Yeah, more interesting fan mail. No pic that time though. Man has no
sense of humor!!! Had to love him anyway.
"Well, I first saw TrekSmut back in the early 70s - most of what I saw was S/Mc, S/Chapel, S/Leila,
S/f, S/m... yeah, S/whoever, even some S/K. It took forever to get stories back and forth with the
fantastic US Postal System. Some stories were lost forever. It all went to a place in NYC and was poorly
printed in newsprint. There were ads for Star Trek stuff like clips off the cutting room floor, tribbles
etc.
"Lost track of most of this 'til a few years ago. Then last year I started looking for stuff on the
net and guess what I found!
"I've put out... well, I've written a few stories. My 'Unicorn' series (S/Mc) is still going on, up to
part 10, just posted (part 11 is coming as soon as T finishes with the editing). Some of the parts are a
little on the sexual side... OK, a lot on the sexual side. Others are not. It starts 10 years
before McCoy joined the Enterprise.
"I also co-wrote 'Home is Where...' (S/Mc) with my favorite nasty girl, T, and just posted 'Dinner?',
another S/Mc with Kirk as well.
"Um, some other stuff. Just... can't remember... what I've posted. That's what happens when you get
old (and did too many drugs - ooo, did you see that?).
"Well, that's me."
Wildcat
< Wildcat looks up and sees that it's her turn, so she tries to quickly drain her
beer. Part of it misses her mouth, and she really hopes that no one noticed. >
"Hello everyone, I'm Wildcat. I'm a forty-ish computer professional by day, and a devoted wife/soccer
mom by night and weekend. In addition, any time I can squeeze it in, I'm also an avid writer of TOS
stories. As those of you who know me can attest, my favorite character is Spock, but I've also written
stories featuring Kirk, McCoy, Uhura, Saavik and even Valeris.
"I never really watched much Star Trek during its original run, but when I discovered it during high
school, I fell in love. I can remember rushing home from school and praying desperately to the
TV-reception gods that today my TV would pick up that magic channel. Usually, though, the gods
weren't listening. So I would add more tin foil to the antenna, twist it and tilt it and sometimes even
stand there and touch it if it helped, and catch whatever action I could among the static. Many days,
all I got was audio, but I didn't care. I was hooked.
"Like everyone else, I was thrilled when Star Trek was resurrected for the big screen. And, like
many, I was horribly disappointed when the baton was passed to that next generation (sorry, you
TNG-ers). Anyway, one day when I was cruising around on the internet, I stumbled across 'Bitter Glass'
and I couldn't believe it! What a story! Then I looked a little further and found 'Anslem'. Wow! Those
two stories grabbed me and haven't let me go to this day. I started following ASC and ASCEM, and finally
got very brave and decided to give it a go.
"The result was that I made many good friends, became a faculty member of TSU and started writing
more stories. My backlist, as of September 1998, follows... (all TOS)
- Time and Again (S/f)
- Restoration of Faith (Valeris, K/S)
- Compulsion (McCoy, K/S)
- The Winds of Eternity (S/U)
- The Watcher and the Protector (K/S)
- Keeping the Faith (Valeris, McCoy, K/S)
- Lost Words (K/S)
- Your Name is Jim (K/S)
- The Hayloft (K/S)
- One Too Many (K, S, Mc)
- The Old Watering Hole (K/S)
- Eulogy: Uhura (U)
- A Woman's Touch (S, U, Saavik)
- The Taste of Snow (S/U, Saavik)
- Almost a Kiss (S/U)
- The Flame Within (S/U)
- The Last Stand (K/S)
"As so many of you know, my two favorite pairings are Kirk/Spock and Spock/Uhura. So, this list will
definitely grow with more stories reflecting that.
"All right. Enough about me. My throat is dry and it's time for another beer. Thanks for listening!"
< Wildcat smiles at everyone and walks toward the bar. >
